The best things to do in Playa Potrero are swimming at its calm beach, sailing and paddleboarding from the sailing club, sunset drinks on the sand, and easy day trips to snorkeling tours, surf beaches, ziplines and volcano country — most of it within 30 minutes. Here's our quick guide to all of it, with links to our full posts when you want the details.
Is Playa Potrero worth visiting?
Yes, if you want a relaxed beach town rather than a party town. Potrero has a calm, swimmable beach, good restaurants, and it's close to everything else on this stretch of Guanacaste: Flamingo is 5 minutes away and Tamarindo about 30. It's a great base for families, and for anyone who'd rather spend the evening at a good dinner with live music than in a nightclub.

- Watch the sunset with a drink at Hemingway's or The Beach House, or drive 5 minutes to Coco Loco on Flamingo beach.
- Try a local craft beer at Potrero Brewing Co. in Surfside.
